The Truth Behind Zozo the Demon

The legend of Zozo, a shadowy demon reportedly summoned through ouija boards, has cast a chilling shadow over paranormal enthusiasts. The ouija board is a staple item in the supernatural world, a way for investigators and hopeful loved ones to contact those who have since moved on. But this sinister influence in Zozo wreaks havoc over what could be a positive paranormal experience.

Using a ouija board is no joke. While some movies will have you believe it is simply some sort of game, the truth behind this paranormal device is far more dangerous in its use. The potential dangers of using such a device may just awaken evil entities like Zozo, entities driven by malevolent intent.

Throughout the years, many have claimed to experience the forces of Zozo. These terrifying experiences have only furthered speculation and fear around this demon’s existence. While no historical or ancient texts mention a character called Zozo, there are enough claims in the supernatural community to warrant this urban legend’s respect, especially for those bold and brave enough to engage with a ouija board.

What Is the Zozo Demon Origin Story?

There are many suspected origin stories of Zozo the demon. Quite honestly, no one knows. There are mentions as far back as the early-1800’s of a young girl claiming to be possessed by three demons, one of which was named Zozo. There is a possible connection to a 1950’s case where a young boy was exorcized after he was possessed by a demon from a ouija board. It’s hard to put concrete evidence that Zozo was responsible for this particular case.

One of the more popular stories told of Zozo revolves around a guy named Darren Evans, who in 1982 found a ouija board in a crawlspace under his girlfriend’s house. As curiosity goes, Evans started using the board and eventually contacted an entity who he said identified itself as Zozo. A harrowing experience showed the malevolence Zozo had—and would presumably still have—for human life after the demon claimed to be taking Evans’ family to a better place. Turns out a “better place” for a demon is Hell.

While the origin story of Zozo remains unclear, if this demon is to exist, then there’s likely some undiscovered ancient text somewhere. Evans claims that the board said “Zozo” instead of “Ouija” on the front when he found it. If that’s the case, then there has to be some mention of Zozo somewhere and in some capacity.

Regardless of how this legend started, many people have experienced Zozo the demon, leaving Evans as just one of many to have a harrowing tale to tell.

Zozo the Demon Experiences

Zozo isn’t tied to a traditional ouija board. Anything that resembles a board, including in technological form, can act as a vessel for Zozo to appear. People who have claimed to experience Zozo describe very similar circumstances, ones that Evans experienced himself.

The planchette, which is the small piece used to identify what a spirit is saying, typically starts out by spelling “Z,” “O,” “Z,” and “O,” repeatedly, along with other troubling and creepy phrases. After the initial encounter, people have reported physical manifestations, like feeling cold spots and hearing whispers or unexplained noises. They’ve also felt feelings of fear, anxiety, and other negative emotions. Trouble sleeping and possible interferences with technology are also commonly reported.

While these experiences sound like most other hauntings, the important thing to note is that all of these experiences occurred after using a ouija board. While there is no scientific evidence that Zozo exists, these experiences after using a ouija board certainly aren’t comforting considering the Zozo legend.

We aren’t here to sway you one way or the other, but we must wonder if Zozo is real, or if this insidious entity is simply a figment of our collective imagination.
